About Tiny Desk AI

What Tiny Desk AI is, how it makes your Outstanding video, and who it isn’t affiliated with.

Last updated: 2026-10-26

Tiny Desk AI (tiny-desk.org) is an independent, fan-made AI video tool for one clip: the end of Charlie Wilson’s Tiny Desk performance of “Outstanding,” the scene behind the Outstanding Tiny Desk AI trend. You upload one to three photos, and you and your friends become the lead singer, the sax player and the keys player.

Why it exists

In October 2026 an AI version of this clip, with five college football coaches in the band, spread across TikTok and X, and soon people were making versions with themselves, their friends and their coworkers in the band. Tiny Desk AI does exactly that one thing, with your own photos.

How it works

  • You sign in with Google and upload 1 to 3 photos (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB each).
  • You pick 6, 10 or 15 seconds, which cost 6, 13 or 20 credits.
  • Each camera shot of the original clip is re-created separately by the Wan 3.0 video model with your photos as the people. The shots render at the same time, and our server joins them and adds the original live sound of the performance so it stays in sync.
  • You get a vertical 9:16 MP4 in 720p with no watermark, saved to your account, ready to download or share to TikTok.
  • AI results vary from one render to the next.

Credits come in one-time packs (no subscription) and never expire. A shot that fails is retried once for free; if it fails again, or the model refuses the photos, the credits come back automatically. If you aren’t happy with a finished video, email us and we refund the payment in money to your original payment method.

What Tiny Desk AI is not

Tiny Desk AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by NPR, NPR Music, the Tiny Desk Concerts series, Charlie Wilson, The Gap Band, the musicians in the clip, TikTok, or any creator whose clip is shown on this site. “Tiny Desk” is NPR’s name. The original clip on our pages is credited to NPR Music and links to its video on YouTube, and the AI example shown on the homepage was not made on this site.

Using it responsibly

  • Only upload photos you have the right to use.
  • Everyone in a photo must be 18 or older and must have agreed to be in the video.
  • No photos of minors, celebrities or public figures. Pets are fine.
  • No nudity, hate, harassment or deceptive deepfakes.
  • Label your video as AI-generated when you share it.
